A pregnancy may be considered high-risk for various reasons including underlying maternal medical conditions (e.g. lupus), conditions that arise during pregnancy (e.g. gestational diabetes requiring insulin), or conditions that affect the fetus (e.g. fetal cardiac anomaly). If you are planning on receiving OB care from a Maternal-Fetal-Medicine doctor, you are likely considered high-risk.

No! Birth Savvy has a lot to offer in support of low-risk pregnancies, high-risk pregnancies, and everything in between.

Birth Savvy comes to you! Sessions can be in person, in the comfort of your home, or virtual. Some offerings, such as infant CPR, can only be held in person. If in person meetings require long distances of travel, Birth Savvy may invoice a travel charge. This fee would be discussed in advance and never added unexpectedly.

No. Birth Savvy is an educational service separate from your OB care. We will not replace or conflict with recommendations provided by your doctor. We are an adjunct service to provide support and education in addition to the OB care you are already receiving.

Birth Savvy does not currently take insurance. We can provide a superbill of the services you receive to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Some insurances provide reimbursement for childbirth education, lactation, and doula services.

Birth Savvy is likely to be a good fit if you have a “the more I know the better i’ll feel” approach to pregnancy, and are planning to deliver in a hospital setting.
