FAQs

  • A pregnancy may be considered high-risk for various reasons including underlying maternal medical conditions (e.g. lupus), conditions that arise during pregnancy (e.g. gestational diabetes requiring insulin), or conditions that affect the fetus (e.g. fetal cardiac anomaly). If you are planning on receiving OB care from a Maternal-Fetal-Medicine doctor, you are likely considered high-risk.

  • No! Birth Savvy has a lot to offer in support of low-risk pregnancies, high-risk pregnancies, and everything in between.

  • Meetings can be virtual or in person. In person meetings can be held in your home or at Birth Savvy’s address in Jamaica Plain, MA. Some offerings, such as infant CPR, can only be done in person. We will work with you to create an in person, virtual, or hybrid learning model that works for you. If in person meetings would require long distances of travel, Birth Savvy may invoice a travel charge. This fee would be discussed in advance and never added unexpectedly.

  • No. Birth Savvy is an educational service separate from your OB care. We will not replace or conflict with recommendations provided by your doctor. We are an adjunct service to provide support and education in addition to the OB care you are already receiving.

  • No. We will provide support and education leading up to, and after your birth but we will not attend your delivery. We are happy to connect you with doula services if you would like in-person support during your birth.
